Please note that this composition IS NOT THE VERSION SET AS THE 4th. SECTION TESTPIECE in 2017.

Junior Band music.

The title of the ‘St. Andrew’s Variations’ has no significance apart from the fact it was written by a Scotsman to be played in the St. Andrew’s Hall !
"I have tried to maintain a balance between keeping the music straightforward technically, and giving the players something interesting to play.
The theme is based on a descending motif which appears in various guises throughout seven following variations"
:-
A proud Fanfare,
A gentle Waltz,
A sad Elegy,
A purposeful March,
A passionate Romance,
A busy ‘Moto Perpetuo’ and
A peaceful Hymn,
ending with a rousing Finale.

Commissioned by:
The East Anglian Brass Band Association for their
61st Annual Spring Festival - 2nd May 1999
